Test
Day Tips
1) Have driver’s license/passport ready.
2) Fill out
confidentiality form.
3) They will
check your info on the computer & then lock
up everything in the little lockers. No food,
no drinks, no pocketbooks, no cell phones, no
beepers, no sex, (just seeing if you were paying
attention) ... in the testing room.
4) They will
give you pencils & scrap paper. They will
collect them at the end of testing. Be sure to
put down the problem number when you are using
the scrap paper so that you can refer back to
it.
5) You’ll
be on camera – smile! Think of it as a “caring”
gesture. They’ll be right there to help
you if you should pass out!
6) If you need
to leave the room – just remember that the
clock will keep running so you should too. You
must sign out & sign back in.
7) Remember to breathe, relax, & say your
mantra.
8) Remember,
there will be LOTS of directions on the computer
about moving the mouse, going back & forth
in the document, etc. Take your time & read
the directions. This is not part of the timed
test. There will also be questions about your
education, family, where you want your results
to be sent . . .
9) When you
begin the timed test – try to relax. If
you see a question that you have never ever seen
before in your life – remain calm. Silently
curse, take a guess & move on! Don’t
spend a lot of time agonizing over it. You do
NOT need a perfect score.
10) Be aware
of the time. Be sure you answer EVERY question.
You can go back & check & change your
answers but you do not want to leave any unanswered.
You probably will not need the entire time but
use it anyway to check, check, check.
11) After the
timed test you will be asked to answer some questions
about the testing center & staff. Just basic
info for their records… (When your score
appears on the screen, remember to wait to scream
outside of the testing area!)
